Live and learn in
local community
Aisho Town is located in Shiga Prefecture, next to Kyoto. While offering excellent access to major cities like Kyoto, Osaka, and Nagoya, it is a quiet area surrounded by nature, rich in culture and history. Shiga Prefecture is particularly renowned for its fermentation culture, and in Aisho Town, you can find traditional sake breweries, soy sauce makers, miso producers, and funazushi—the origin of sushi in Japan.
Aisho
Aisho takes a place on Nakasendo, a historic road that connects Tokyo and Kyoto. For centuries, travelers passing through would stop and stay in local communities along the way. The people of these towns welcomed outsiders, offering a place to rest and connect.
Here, you won’t find the dazzling neon lights of Tokyo or Osaka, but instead, you’ll experience a comfort and sense of connection with people that big cities cannot offer.

SekaiCo house
A community house Sekaico is renovated from a 70-year-old home, offering a unique blend of tradition and comfort. The first floor features a spacious living room with a large kotatsu (heated table), along with four rooms—both Western-style and Japanese-style.(The kitchen, bathroom, and toilet are shared). The living room is equipped with Japanese language textbooks, manga, and renowned Japanese literature.
Here, you can live, study Japanese, and connect with the local community through regular events.
